Apparition is about possession and the desire to inflict pain upon yourself that it could instill in impressionable minds. Contemporary religion and even some yoga practices can diminish the ego and cause one to be more receptive to harmful energies. Despite what popular media and modern religion may preach, the ego is essential and empowers the spirit if focused correctly. The ego should grow in union with your sense of empathy and love for existence. Be careful with your research, because when you get close to being enlightened to the historical doctrines that empower you spiritually, there may be forces that target you by possessing and hurting the ones you love.
